ArtCraft 评测：WordCraft、PdfCraft、CadCraft 与其余 Craft 应用

This is a short review of the Craft apps we did not install: WordCraft, PdfCraft and CadCraft, then the rest of the family at a glance. Unlike our posts on PhotoCraft and FilmCraft, nothing here comes from running the software. It is what the official READMEs and roadmaps say, read on 2026-10-12, and the projects' percentages are their own estimates. Background on the family is in the hub post.

WordCraft (targets Microsoft Word)

• Status. Alpha, v0.6.1 published 2026-10-12, Apache-2.0 or MIT. The roadmap estimates about 60% ready for real work and about 80% feature breadth.
• Files. Opens and saves .docx. Reads Word 97-2003 .doc. Imports and exports .odt, .rtf, .html, .md, .tex and .txt, and exports PDF. A command-line tool converts between them.
• What it models. The ribbon, styles, tables, track changes, references and mail merge. 487 of 502 ribbon and menu items are covered, measured by the project's own script.
• Honest gaps. The roadmap lists charts, SmartArt and drawing, proofing languages and localisation, East Asian and right-to-left typography, writing .doc files and PDF reflow.
• User evidence, from the project's own doc. 120 issues filed by outside users, 4 praise reports and no reports of switching from Word, with about 21 open bugs on core paths.

What to check before using it: round trips of real client .docx files with comments, tracked changes and fonts you do not have. For documents that go back to someone using Word, the question is how Word renders what WordCraft saves, and no roadmap percentage answers that.

PdfCraft (targets Adobe Acrobat Pro)

• Status. Alpha, v0.7.1 published 2026-10-12. The roadmap estimates about 49% ready against full Acrobat Pro, about 55% for a mainstream user and about 66% for an essentials user. Feature breadth is about 67%, weighted by importance, with 423 of 808 tracked features shipped and 74 partial.
• What it does. Read, organise, combine, split, rotate, watermark and secure PDFs, view form fields, and run text recognition (OCR). A command-line tool covers combine, extract, split, edit and text extraction. The README says documents never leave the machine, with no account, no telemetry and no cloud processing.
• Why alpha. The roadmap says all six of Acrobat Pro's everyday workflows complete end to end on macOS, but two are only partial: editing has no CJK or right-to-left support, and convert-and-share has no in-app Office to PDF conversion, with Word export losing layout.
• Beta blockers, in its words. The roadmap says those two partial workflows, quality that has not been measured against Acrobat, a borrowed renderer called hayro, and 245 open issues keep it far from beta.

For a studio, the risk is signing, redaction and form fidelity in client documents. Test a signed contract and a redacted file against Acrobat before using it for anything that matters legally. We did not.

CadCraft (targets Autodesk AutoCAD)

• Status. Pre-alpha, v0.6.2 published 2026-10-12. The roadmap estimates about 38% ready for real work and 50% feature breadth, which it measures as 245 of 491 AutoCAD for Mac menu items (about 65% counting 2D menus only).
• Why pre-alpha, in its words. Four of AutoCAD's five core workflows fail the project's alpha gate: drafting lacks object snap tracking and has stubbed TRIM, EXTEND and OFFSET options, blocks cannot be edited, plots ignore plot styles, and a DWG saved by CadCraft drops everything it does not model and has never been checked in AutoCAD.
• Files. DXF read (R12 to 2018) and write (R2000). DWG read and write (R2000) through a third-party library. PDF plotting, SVG and PNG export.
• Interface. A command line with AutoCAD-style prompts, object snaps, layers, dimensions, hatches and blocks. Nine interface languages, including Simplified Chinese.

For anyone who hands DWG files to a contractor, the line that matters is the one about saving: unmodelled content is dropped. Treat it as a viewer and a DXF tool for now.

The rest of the family at a glance

One thing to keep in mind when reading the percentages: the projects estimate their own readiness, and they measure remaining work in AI agent hours. That is a transparent method, and it is also not independent verification. Where an app matters to your work, run your own files through it.
